TH Travel special finds

TH Travel agents are often able to find air fares for significantly lower cost than those you’d normally find online.

As a result of having special contracted rates for most major airlines, hotels and car rentals, and using select Consolidators and Tour Companies, TH Travel agents can often offer dramatically reduced International Business and First Class Airfares. For example:

Published Business Class Rate: $8,500
TH Travel Business Class Rate: $5,900

Published First Class Rate: $11,000 – $12,000
TH Travel First Class Rate: $4,800 – $6,500

Use your frequent flyer miles

Fly in comfort at no extra cost – use your frequent flyer miles to upgrade to first class.

Frequent Flyer miles are offered by all airline companies as well as some credit card services. To enroll into a Frequent Flyer Club just simply request so at the airline company’s web-page. You are usually given a member number. Keep it on record and give it to our travel agent when booking a flight.

Keep saving your frequent flyer miles to upgrade you flights from coach to business and first class seats. When you fly on international flights, you need about 15,000 frequent flyer points for each direction.

Check with our TH Travel agent if you need assistance in setting up a frequent flyer account and get instructions on how to use them.

As many of our travelers know, good seats are hard to come by, even when booking way in advance. Airline restrictions keep getting tougher on seat assignments for coach class. Some of the carriers offer a limited number of window and aisle eats for advance booking and then show the middle seats as the only seats available for advance assignment.

Get help from TH Travel agent

With customer best interest in mind, TH Travel Agents routinely select carriers who make all seats available at the time the flight is booked.

Please discuss your seat preferences with your TH Travel Agent(s) for best results.

Paid preferred seating

It has now become common practice with some of the carriers to offer preferred seating at an additional cost. The preferred seat costs range from $15 to $25 for domestic and about $100 for international. For travelers who want to ensure, in advance, that choice seats have been assigned, this may be the only option.

Choose a seat using online check-in

The alternative would be to do seat assignments online 24 hours before flight time or wait for seat assignments at the airport on check-in, hoping the preferred seats are available.

Carry On

Most Airlines allow carry one bag and one personal item at no charge. Please note that all items must easily fit into the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you.

Personal Carry-on Items

Here is a list of approved carry-on items:

1 purse, briefcase, camera bag, or diaper bag;

or 1 laptop computer (computers cannot be checked and must be carried on);

or 1 item of a similar or smaller size to those listed above.

You may also carry on the following items, which do not count as personal items:

A jacket or umbrella

Food or drink purchased after clearing the security checkpoint.

Duty free merchandise.

Special items like strollers, child restraint seats, or assistive devices such as wheelchairs or crutches.

Top

Checked Baggage

Weight restrictions

Checked baggage must weigh 50 lbs. or less and its combined length, width and height must measure 62 inches or less. If your bag exceeds these weight or size limits, you will be charged an additional fee and this can be quite costly.

Baggage Charges

Domestic (US and Canada):

Most Airlines charge $25-$35 for first checked bag at the airport. It is about $5.00 less if booked on line Second checked bags cost more and need and vary with each airline.

International Flights:

First checked bag — no fee applies.

Second checked bag — fee varies with each carrier.

Remember that excess baggage fees may apply if you check more than two bags or if your checked bags exceed the airline weight and size restrictions.

Advanced Baggage Check-In

Want to check in for your flight and pay for your bags before you arrive at the airport?

Within 24 hours of your departure, you can tell us how many bags you will check and pay any fees quickly and easily online. When you arrive at the airport, you can drop off your checked baggage at the nearest baggage drop, marked with red “Baggage Drop” signage, or curbside check-in station (available within 6 hours of departure time). You may also check your bags at the airport kiosk, ticket counter, or curbside; however, please note that higher checked baggage fees will apply if paid at the airport.

Top

What is allowed within your carry-on or checked luggage?

There are certain items that are allowed or disallowed to bring in your luggage. Many believe that no sharp object and no liquids are allowed, but that is not exactly accurate. Below we put together a table with most common items where you can see which are allowed and which ones are not.

Important Note:

Although we get regular updates from TSA regarding any changes in their regulations, we do however recommend you to also check TSA’s web-page to see the full and most updated list of their regulations: Visit TSA Official website.

Ricki, I wanted to report back to you with regards to our trip. My sister and I had a great time! Ruby Falls & Rock City Gardens are a must for anyone going to TN. Forget about the incline railway – that was a waste of time. The Chantecleer Inn was so quaint. The service was great and they served a home-made full breakfast every morning, and put out home made treats every evening. I’d recommend it to anyone. Its a bit scary navigating Look Out Mountain if you aren’t accustomed to driving up a mountain – especially at night.

We took a trip to the Smokey Mountains and walked around the town (forgot the name of the town – was similar to “Galveston”). Very pretty & great shops. THe mountains are just above Knoxville.

We also took a trip to Falcon Rest Mansion, McMinnville TN. The drive was beautiful – the mansion was a waste of time & money.

We walked around the ‘art district’ in downtown Chattanooga – which consists of a handful of galleries and a few restaurants. Not worth it.

Best restaurant in Chattanooga was “The Terminal Brewhouse” which had the best hummus and best hamburgers we ever tasted.

Next year we may be looking at a trip to Washington State. We’re still talking about it and we’ll let you know.

Thanks again for your work in putting this together.

Best Regards,
Lori Richardson
